I’m on vacation this week. Lent was a long and challenging six weeks, broken up by some tremendous worship services. It was time to shut off for a while.
Time alone. Time with God. Time with my family. No schedules, no email, no appointments. Time outside. Time reading a book for fun. Staying up too late, sleeping in too long, taking a nap, playing card games as a family. Going for a drive just because.
Time off and away is healthy. Welcome. Good. I hope you find time and opportunity to do the same, whenever you find you need it. Don’t fight it, just go. For an afternoon, a day, a weekend or a month, whatever you can afford. Just go – the world will survive without you, no matter how convinced you are otherwise.
I’ll write again next week, but for now it’s just the four of us in Northern Michigan with a good book and beautiful weather, praise God.
He is risen. I am thankful.
